    We are a training-oriented kennel located in Northeast Missouri. We are currently accepting dogs for our gun dog training program. We are a training kennel first and foremost!

    We believe in teamwork, and continued support, to assist you and your dog in reaching the highest level of performance that you desire.  Whether you are interested in a solid-performing hunting dog, or you want the excitement of putting a hunt test title on your dog, we can customize a program that fits you and your partner's needs.

    We believe that a good bird dog should handle kindly in the field, and hunt with you as part of a team.  At Salt River Kennels we can help that team come together!

    Performance-based training is a training program that is focused on the overall end result and tailored to fit each bird dog's requirements to meet that result.  The first step we take is to discuss with you what type of hunting that you primarily do and develop a clear goal for the bird dog training that you want done.  Once we have established your desired end result, we analyze what your dog already knows and come up with a a starting plan.  After we begin working with your dog,  we will stay in contact with you and change this plan if necessary to meet the dogs abilities and experiences.  Remember! most dogs are capable of much more than their owners usually realize! 

    Rather then follow a cookie cutter approach to bird dog training,  we find that this is much better suited to both the dogs and their owners, giving you a gun dog that fits your needs and your bird dogs abilities to a higher degree.  

    We have experience with most of the pointing breeds including german shorthaired pointers, brittany spaniels, english pointers, german wirehaired pointers, vizsla's, weimaraners,  english setters and we also do field labs and other flushing breeds.
